Hunn optimistic for Tipp!

Terry Hunn debut’s the Autoxross Fiesta NHR at Tipperary Raceway this coming weekend buoyed by the cars recent performance at Tullyroan three weeks ago.

‘We missed the pre – weekend practice, so on the Saturday I had to go out and find my braking points etc after most had practiced, – but we were happy with the set up initially. We managed to further improve the car but then it rained and I got a puncture and limped round for the finish but we were happy with day one’ said Hunn.

‘For Sunday, we opted for Chris’ wet set up for the British which was good, but I struggled with vision because my roll – off system on my goggles ran out’.

‘For the next race, we opted for my own wet set up on the car with 4 x wet tyres and this worked well with us leading by the length of a straight until seven laps to go when others passed who were using a combination of both 2 x wet and 2 x dry – but the car felt good so we were happy that we were going in the right direction’.

‘We chose to use this same set up for the next race but we put on four slicks instead of the dry’s and we were gridded third row inside, with John Christie, Glenn Bell and Rob McDonald ahead of us’.

At the drop of the green, Hunn managed to negotiate the Fiesta past both Christie and Bell – no mean feat when they are on home soil, – and was on the pace with World Champion McDonald too. ‘I was happy that the car was in one piece and that we (Autoxross and Myself) – had made good progress with the car’.

‘What a lot of people don’t realise is that for Hednesford and Ipswich, we had a timing issue with the engine, which was no one’s fault, it just wasn’t set quite right, so the engine went back to Carl Boardley Motorsport where it was adjusted so we came to Tullyroan with the power spot on!’

‘We’re really looking forward to Tipperary, it’s going to give us another chance to show the car’s potential on one of the fastest ovals there is. We have made a few adjustments, including raising the height a little and we will try a mixture of set – up’s but personally I’ve never got into a car ‘straight out of the box’ – and have it handle, as I want it to handle before.

‘That’s the beauty of Autoxross, they have provided a car that can be bespoke to every drivers different requirements and by manufacturing virtually every component on the car in – house, they are able to offer this service to any customer’.

‘Tipp is a power track, let’s see what it brings this weekend!’
