Terry Hunn’s debut of the Autoxross Fiesta NHR at Tipperary Raceway last weekend yielded the car with its maiden win amongst some of the best Drivers in the business.
‘Tipp was cracking, I love racing in Ireland and the fun atmosphere that there always is there’ commented Hunn. ‘Saturday we spent getting the car right, Tipp has developed a bump in the track since I was last there and it did unsettled the car a little so we worked on combatting that. We tried the wet Tullyroan setting but it was not as effective there, so we tried some different settings which greatly improved the car and compensated where the car had been unsettled by this bump. Sadly the car ran hot in Saturday night’s final so I decided to retire in readiness for the following day.’
‘For Sunday, we made one or two more alterations which really paid off as we won race one! To be honest the car did pull a gap and I could have extended that, but I elected just to keep it steady, maintain the gap and bring it home!
‘For the next race, the rain had returned so we opted for my own preferred wet set up on the car and this worked well with us coming from the back through to seventh and we were actually pressing on Shane Murphy. I can honestly say I have not had so much enjoyment since 2014 – plus I’ve become a fan of the wet now too!
‘For the Final, we were second row inside and went back to race 1 settings for the conditions. Again I had, had a great weekend and was happy that the car was in one piece and that Autoxross and Myself had made further progress with the car again on a track it had not visited before’.
Not one to hang about, Terry delivered the car to Carl Boardley Motorsport earlier in the week for the engine to be checked and refreshed in readiness for Ipswich this coming Saturday night.
‘I’m really looking forward to Ipswich, we went well there last time in August – and that was with the timing issue so we hope to be even quicker this time around with that sorted!’
‘I have to say there were a lot of ‘Championship Winning’ Drivers casting more than one eye over the Fiesta at the Tipp weekend, so let’s hope it will in time see more Autoxross cars on track.
